Apoligies for the long lull in features, work commitments have forced it.Alas their hasnt been a lot of Bus photos coming my way lately to the topic of this one will have to do.
In Early 2007 shortages in the Bus Eireann fleet which cultivated in Conyingham Road's 9 VA's finding new prominance saw Some of Dublin Bus's 69 DAF SB220/Alexander Setanta (AD Class) migrate to Bus Eireann in Dundalk & Waterford for Citywork.AD69,shown above in Kilbarrick in February 2006,and below at Waterford in March 2007,was one of the first.
Later on,AD69 was joined by a few more, including Core Liveried AD67,seen here on the Very Busy Route 360 at Tramore Terminus on June 28th 2007.
AD's were the logical choice for Waterford, since some Waterford crews already had experence with them, since their joining of the fleet there in July 2004 & the loan of 3 AD's there, ironically for Tramore,in Summer 1998.
AD67 spent much of it's Dublin Career in Donnybrook Depot before a brief move to Summerhill in Summer 2004.Autumn 2004 saw it move to Harristown before withdrawl from there in July 2006.
The 360 is a very busy service, well justified for Double Deckers. The route had them at one point in the form of KD class double deckers. On June 28th,2 DWR's and AD67 made up the service. These two photos, inside and out, show the service before most people boarded!
Oddly,AD67 reintain's it's D/Brook depot markings!!
Joining Waterford in April/May 2006 were AD62 & 63.These veichles, like AD67,were new to Donnybrook and lasted their until April 2004,when they moved to Phibsboro.Withdrawl from their came as late as September 2006.
AD63 was well patronised by Spanish Students!Note the Destination display.
On the last week of June 2007 the eventual sucessors to the AD's arrived at Waterford, with the arrival of VWL145,the first of 47 Wright Eclipses on Order. She is seen here on June 28th 2007.
The Basic message is clear-if you want photos of some of the Ex Dublin Bus Stock in use like this, like the railway's loco hauled trains-do it now,not later, because pritty soon the AD's above will be Country Buses!!
