In late 1999/early 2000 Bus Eireann instigated a massive city fleet investment programme, and one of the cities that benefitted from this investment was Limerick.
The MC Class was delivered under the programme, with Limerick recieving the first 12 of 20(MC1-12).These Mercedes Cittaro's were the first in ireland, and have a pleasing appearence.
And a note for Dublin Bus-you may want to consider the friendly reminder the MC's carry.........
A Batch of 15 Wright Cadet/DAF SB120's (DWM001-015) also joined the Limerick Fleet for the City Services. In 2004 3 of these veichles went on loan to Galway for a Period,(DWM013-015),though they have since returned.DWM012 Pictured below.
The previous order for the Limerick City Services was the KC,which cascaded onto Schools with the arrival of DPL's from Dawsonrentals, and later the MC's and DWM's.KCS180 and 192 are seen here in Roxboro Garage on June 25th 2004.
Limerick also has an unusual specimen,in the form of VNC1,a Northern Counties bodied Volvo B10B which was previously a demo with Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann themselves. As of December 2006,"the blob" was still in City Service, alibet on a limited Basis.
Limerick's probably most famous resident is D454,an ex Summerhill CIE Bodied Leyland Atlantean, which was used for City Tours in Limerick.Though it appears in Good condition,it has been little used in recent years.
Limerick was also the home to a large number of KS,though the arrival of LS,P's and OP's at the garage has largely rendered them redundant.KS200 is seen here at Roxboro in June 2004.
All the usual suspects can be found-or could be-on the Schools services.
